External entry: check the host
Last checked: October 9, 2026 · Scope: hosted app page response; no running scene.

How to play Diablo: four checks
- Inspect the external entry. Diabloweb offers a shareware option. The full game requires your own DIABDAT.MPQ from an original copy. The app responded, but gameplay was not verified.
- Read the loader rather than guessing a wait time. The hosted app returned a page in the recorded check. No running scene, FPS, frame-time result, or loading duration was verified. A browser app can transfer files even when no installer is needed. No 10–30 second estimate is established for this entry. Keep the selected data option in your notes: shareware and your own full-game MPQ are different content paths. A successfully returned app page alone does not show which option loaded or whether an interactive scene began.
- Choose the project’s shareware option if that is what you intend to use, or follow its documented DIABDAT.MPQ requirement using your own original game copy. Do not treat spawn.mpq shareware as the full commercial content, and do not send game files to this website.
- No running Diablo browser session or implementation-specific control screen was checked. Do not substitute the original game’s input mapping.
What to expect
- We’re playing / version
- Diabloweb is a community browser project documented in d07RiV/diabloweb. The README’s lineage and data requirements are verified as project statements; app availability is a narrower host observation. No full-game access is implied by the presence of a shareware option. No gameplay session has been verified.
- Performance
- The hosted app returned a page in the recorded check. No running scene, FPS, frame-time result, or loading duration was verified.
- Multiplayer
- No host documentation or successful multiplayer session was established for Diablo. Original-game online features are not browser-port evidence.
- Mobile
- The project author describes mobile availability, but this site has not verified a phone, touch layout, or controller session.
About this browser version
The d07RiV/diabloweb README identifies a browser project based on diasurgical/devilution. It describes changes to dependencies and event handling for a WebAssembly build. These are attributed implementation details, not a benchmark performed by this website.
The hosted app has a shareware option using spawn.mpq. Access to the full game requires DIABDAT.MPQ from the user’s own original copy, with a licensed GOG release given as an example. This distinction is essential: reaching a browser app does not make the full commercial game free.
The author describes mobile availability, but the existing check only established that the app page responded. We did not load a level, test phone inputs, verify multiplayer, or measure hardware performance. No universal control mapping is published here because the checked primary description did not establish one.
For a reproducible follow-up, identify whether the session uses shareware or the player’s licensed full-game data, and record where gameplay starts. A screenshot of the app shell does not settle either question. Data-file requirements belong to the project’s own instructions; this site only explains their distinction and does not host, upload, or supply the commercial MPQ.
- Engine basis
- The project is based on diasurgical/devilution, with dependency changes, WebAssembly compilation, and JavaScript event handling described in its README.
- Release-label scope
- Diablo / 1996 · Blizzard: original Diablo release and GOG availability. Original launch platforms remain unverified; a current store-platform list is not a launch-platform record. The linked Blizzard article gives December 31, 1996; another official anniversary account uses 1997, so the year attribution is kept explicit.
- Verified original launch platforms
- Not established by the checked primary sources. No platform list is inferred from a cover image.

No. The project distinguishes shareware spawn.mpq from the full-game DIABDAT.MPQ requirement.
What do I need for the full Diablo browser version?
The project requires DIABDAT.MPQ from your own original game copy. This site does not distribute or collect those files.
What engine is Diabloweb based on?
The primary README identifies diasurgical/devilution and describes changes for WebAssembly and JavaScript event handling.
Did you test Diabloweb on a phone?
No. Mobile availability is described by the project author; this site has not verified phone controls or gameplay.
